Sowore Storms Police Headquarters with Travel Bag, Toothpaste, soap

Human rights activist and politician, Omoyele Sowore, on Wednesday arrived at the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters in Abuja with a travel bag packed with essentials—clearly prepared for possible detention.
This follows a summons from the Inspector General of Police Monitoring Unit over an alleged case of forgery and criminal defamation as detailed in a letter dated August 5.
True to his promise to honour the invitation “with a full house,” Sowore was accompanied by a crowd of supporters, fellow activists, and his legal team, including lawyers A.K. Musa and Marshal Abubakar. The scene was charged with chants of anti-government slogans and songs critical of the current Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
Arriving at the police facility around 12:16 p.m., Sowore’s travel bag was visibly stocked with personal items such as soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, clothes, and books—a symbolic message that he was ready for incarceration if necessary.
