Actress Francia Raisa, best known for donating a kidney to Selena Gomez in 2017, has spoken out about long-standing rumors of a fallout between her and the pop star — particularly after she was absent from Gomez’s wedding to Benny Blanco.

In a recent interview filmed at a bookstore event, the How I Met Your Father star dismissed reports of tension, calling them nothing more than “rumors.”

“I know she’s getting married, and I’m very happy for her,” Francia Raisa said in Spanish, according to translated subtitles.

“Look… she has a life, and she is already a billionaire. I am grateful that I could do that for her.”

Reflecting on her decision to donate a kidney, Raisa explained,

“From the beginning, the doctors told me it’s a donation. If you donate a dollar to St. Jude or somewhere else, you don’t call to ask, ‘Hey, what are you doing with my dollar?’ It’s something nice I was able to do. I’m grateful that I’m alive and can say I’ve saved a life.”

Raisa also hinted that organ donation might be “more difficult” for women than men, though she didn’t elaborate on why.

When asked about past reports claiming she was “angry” with Gomez for how the singer cared for herself after the transplant, Francia Raisa firmly shut down the speculation.

“What you are asking me is nonsense that has been in the media,” she replied.

“There are too many rumors. I’ve never said anything. When that rumor came out that I was angry because she was smoking, I wasn’t even aware of it. No one knows what’s going on, and neither she nor I are talking about it. One day, maybe we will address it.”

Francia Raisa’s life-saving act in 2017 gave Gomez, who was battling lupus, a new chance at life — a gesture both women have previously described as deeply personal and transformative.
