Guinness World Records has reacted after Nigerian chef Hilda Baci successfully completed her attempt at cooking the world’s largest pot of jollof rice.

The Akwa Ibom-born chef kicked off the record-breaking attempt on Friday, September 12, 2025, at Eko Hotels and Suites, Lagos. Hilda Baci and her team documented the journey from preparation to completion, drawing massive attention both online and on-site.

The event attracted over 20,000 youths, alongside several Nigerian celebrities who turned up to show their support. Once the food was ready, enthusiastic attendees queued until the early hours of Saturday, September 13, with some waiting until 4 a.m. to get a serving of the historic jollof rice.

Taking to its official page on X (formerly Twitter), Guinness World Records cheered on the chef, writing:

“What’s cookin’? Best of luck to @hildabacicooks who’s attempting a new record for the largest serving of Nigerian style jollof rice today 🍲.”

This latest feat comes after Hilda Baci’s headline-making achievement in June 2023, when Guinness World Records officially confirmed her as the record holder for the longest cooking marathon (individual) following her Lagos cook-a-thon in May 2023.
