Boxing fans are set for a historic showdown as Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather have officially agreed to face each other in the ring.

The fight, organised by CSI Sports/Fight Sports, is slated for the spring of 2026. Although the exact date and venue are yet to be confirmed, the bout will be an exhibition match, meaning Mayweather’s flawless 50-0 record will not be at risk.

Mike Tyson, who will be 59 at the time of the fight, admitted he was stunned by the agreement but expressed excitement about the challenge.

“This fight is something neither the world nor I ever thought would or could happen. However, boxing has entered a new era of the unpredictable and this fight is as unpredictable as it gets. I still can’t believe Floyd wants to really do this. It’s going to be detrimental to his health, but he wants to do it, so it’s signed and it’s happening!” he said.

Mayweather, 49, brushed off concerns, highlighting his unmatched legacy in the sport.

“I’ve been doing this for 30 years and there hasn’t been a single fighter that can tarnish my legacy. You already know that if I am going to do something, it’s going to be big and it’s going to be legendary. I’m the best in the business of boxing. This exhibition will give the fans what they want,” he said.

The announcement follows Mike Tyson’s widely publicized return to the ring in November 2024 against Jake Paul, a fight that drew 108 million viewers worldwide. Mayweather, on his part, has remained active with exhibition bouts since his retirement in 2017 after defeating Conor McGregor in one of boxing’s biggest-ever pay-per-view events.
